Chicago Pneumatic has unveiled its new RX hydraulic
breaker line, which offers 13 models designed to match a range of applications
including demolition, recycling, road construction and landscaping.
The company said the RX designation signifies that
they are ‘reliable to the extreme’, with the model number designating the
approximate carrier size. The RX8, for instance, fits an excavator of about 8US
tons (7.2tonnes) and the range covers carriers in weight classes as small as
1.3-3US tons (1.2-2.7tonnes) right through to the RX53 for excavators in the
class up to 70US tons (63.5tonnes).
RX hydraulic breakers feature a hybrid gas/oil
technology and are engineered with fewer components and working parts to
maintain. “With fewer parts comes simplicity and less chance for things to go
wrong,” said product manager Kevin Loomis.
The CP Power Boost feature on the RX models is
designed to achieve higher breaking performance in tougher applications without
requiring additional hydraulic input. While the impact energy remains constant,
the breaker increases blow frequency, which is said to result in enhanced
percussive performance. The Power Stop function found on models RX14 and up
reduces blank firing, and is designed to protect the breaker and carrier while
increasing the working life of the components.
The larger models in the Chicago Pneumatic RX line,
RX25 through RX53, feature a power control valve, which enables the operator to
adjust the breaker’s performance according to the application. The RX25-RX53
models also feature a fastening system that uses head bolts and insert threads
to distribute torque equally. The RX line has also been designed to provide increased
damping of noise and vibration.
