Xcentric Ripper International, a division of Grado Cero Group, has introduced the Xcentric Ripper attachment, which the company described as a revolution in rock excavation and demolition. The attachment, which comes in a range of eight sizes to suit different excavator weight classes, has made its US debut.
Grado Cero Group manufactures heavy-duty excavator buckets and patented Go Max quick couplers. Meanwhile, one of its divisions was carrying out large rock excavation and trenching projects in the north of Spain. The combination enabled the invention and development of what the company described as a completely new attachment to execute these difficult projects much faster and in a much more cost efficient way.
The first prototypes started to undergo testing in all kind of different rock conditions in 2009. The work has resulted in what the company claimed is a 100% reliable, efficient and maintenance-free attachment. The Xcentric Ripper is now available worldwide for use by companies working in rock excavation and demolition.
Grado Cero said that the Xcentric Ripper carries out excavation and demolition of asphalt or concrete in less time, for lower cost and with a minimum of noise. It has been developed with a patented impact vibration accumulation technology. According to the company, this makes it more productive than any hydraulic breaker or hammer available on the market in 85 % of job applications. In 60% of job applications, a production rate two to five times higher can be achieved, claimed the company. It said that the Xcentric Ripper’s closed energy chamber cannot be influenced or damaged from the outside by dust, water or dirt, allowing it to work in the most severe conditions and even under water.
