The new HAMM H20i soil compactor is one of a new range
of high-performance machines from the firm.
Weighing in at 43,383lbs (20tonnes), the H20i is
powered by a six-cylinder Deutz diesel rated at 215hp (160kW) and which meets
Tier 4 Interim/Stage IIIB emissions requirements. The company claims that it is
setting a lead in the industry by offering an emissions-compliant soil compactor
that is said to have plenty of power in reserve for compaction, even in tough
operating conditions.
The machine has an 84inch (2.14m) wide drum and
delivers centrifugal forces of 74,475lb (331kN). Measurement sensors are fitted
so that an operator can monitor compaction and ensure that work is carried out
to the required specification.
Visibility from the cab is maximized due to a spacious
cab with large glass panels. Rearward visibility is good due to the innovative
layout of the cooling and emissions equipment. Maintenance and servicing is
easy with service points grouped on one side of the machine, with cleaning and
exchanging the air filter said to be a quick and simple task.
The H20i is also said to be economical to run as it
can be operated either in normal or ECO mode, to save on fuel consumption.
The smaller H18i and larger H25i share many features,
weighing in at 40,373 (18.3tonnes) and 54,075lb (24.5tonnes) respectively.
