John Deere’s emphasis on customer input was in sharp focus when the company unveiled its new production class 944K wheel loader at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011.
The 944K’s design is the result of direct collaboration between John Deere’s quarry and other large loader customers seeking a large capacity wheel loader that offers fewer emissions, better fuel efficiency and reduced tire wear.
Slated for a 2013 launch, the 944K loader carries nine cubic yards and features John Deere’s diesel-electric drive train, which offers electric traction to four modular, independent wheel drives.
John Deere says its diesel-electric drive train configuration, which uses the engine to drive a generator to generate electricity for electric motors that drive the wheels, significantly increases fuel efficiency, reduces tire wear, and increases durability and reliability through fewer moving parts.
Operators will appreciate the 944K’s better bucket dumping visibility with a traditional dual-arm boom design and the spacious cab with easy to read function displays.
