The main highlight for the ZF Off-Highway Division at
the IFPE 2011 show will be the launch of its new cPOWER
transmission into the North American construction market; focusing especially
on wheeled loaders.
The new cPOWER transmission is a fully powersplit
transmission with a sophisticated transmission control unit and integrated
onboard electronics that ensures continuously variable performance over all
driving ranges.
The continuously variable transmission (CVT) allows
the engine to operate at generally lower speeds — independent of the vehicle’s
operating speed — which stabilizes the engine operation and results in improved
fuel economy.
ZF’s experience with CVT concepts for the agricultural
market provided an obvious advantage in the study and design phases of the
cPOWER transmission development, making it possible to
utilize proven construction kit modules.
