Ohio team win high school Construction Challenge at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011

The Caterpillar-sponsored team from Miami Valley Career Technology Center High School from Clayton, Ohio, celebrated on Thursday evening when they were named winners – out of 23 teams – of the Construction Challenge competition.

All week the teams have been solving problems on the Road Rumble Challenge and the H2Oh Yeah! Challenge as part of the AEM-organized Construction Challenge, which is sponsored by Volvo Construction Equipment.

The Road Rumble Challenge required each team to build a device that delivered construction materials from one location to another over rough terrain on a custom-designed course. The H2Oh Yeah! Challenge required students to answer questions in a game show format and then participate in a mini-challenge that involved solving real-world water infrastructure problems.

Second place overall was taken by Pearce and Richardson High Schools from Dallas, Texas, who were sponsored by Kobelco, and third place was secured by Liebherr-sponsored Creekview, RL Turner and Newman Smith High Schools, from Carrollton, Texas.

Visitors to the show today can prove their skills on the Road Rumble Challenge in the Grand Lobby between 10am and 2pm.
