Infotech Enterprises, which
provides design engineering services and solutions to leading construction
equipment OEMs, has seen a rapid increase in demand for its services as the
industry climbs out of recession.
The company employs more than 8,500
engineers across 30 global locations, using a global delivery and collaborative
engineering approach to its clients across the heavy equipment, aerospace,
transport, oil and gas, telecom and marine sectors.
This includes design and
engineering input into a wide range of construction equipment among its
clients, which includes manufacturers in the US, Europe and Japan – and much of
which is on display at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011.
According to Brian Wyatt,
Infotech’s vice president – global strategy and marketing, as the GFC took
effect, demand from its construction industry clients “went through the floor”.
“The value of work from our heavy
equipment OEM clients was down by around 60%,” he said.
“But in the past 12 months, it’s
bounced back by nearly 100%.”
Wyatt said the design engineering
services sector was a good early indicator of confidence returning to the
industry.
“When there’s some confidence out
there that sales are about to come back, the OEMs come to us to provide the
extra capacity they need in terms of design, research and development,” he
said.
Typical of the engineering
services provided by Infotech are projects aimed at enhancing fuel efficiency
and operator safety, helping its clients achieve emissions and regulatory
goals.
“With a strong knowledge of
various markets, standards and regulations, our engineers can provide localized
engineering solutions to major manufacturers worldwide,” said Wyatt.
