Sandvik releases smartphone app at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011

During CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011, Sandvik Mining and Construction released a smartphone application (app) for Android and iPhone phones.  According to the company, the app is a demonstration of its focus on service.

“Our aim is to be able to serve our client’s needs regardless of location, time zone or challenge,” said Lars Josefsson, Sandvik’s president. “To provide a solution to any problem that might occur is an important competitive tool.”

Sandvik will continue developing the smartphone app during 2011.

In addition, through social media and an online discussion forum on Sandvik’s own site, clients will be able to contribute – both during CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011 and after – to its future development.

According to Johan Dotzauer, Sandvik’s global marketing and sales support manager, the app was developed because one size did not fit all. “To equally service all our clients we have to be able to listen to and serve their individual needs,” he said. “Our smartphone app makes it possible, both for us and our clients, to interact even more efficiently – which will make a significant difference down the line.

“We look forward to receiving feedback in the discussion forum. How we will develop the app after that is up to the participants.”

It is available as a free download from the Apple App Store and Android Market.
