Atlas Copco has used CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011
to launch a new Tier 4-compliant compressor, the XATS1050CD7.
Power comes from a Cat engine and the
company has managed to fit the new engine technology into the same-sized unit
as the predecessor model, the XATS950, while operating more efficiently.
Fuel consumption of the new unit is
significantly less, with additional fuel economy provided by the fact that its
variable-speed cooling fan is designed to run only as needed, rather than
continually.
Emission control is also built in to the
new controller, so that, unlike some other units, no separate control area is
necessary.
