Roadtec’s E Series Shuttlebuggy features a Tier 4
Interim/Stage IIIB compliant diesel engine, along with several other key
improvements. Power comes from a Caterpillar C27 diesel, although a Tier
3/Stage IIIA version is available for markets where emissions legislation
allows.
According to John Irvine vice president of sales and
marketing, “It has bigger chains at the front and back and deeper slat
conveyors so they operate more slowly and this reduces wear and extends life. I
believe it’ll double the life of the wear components.”
The adjustable width front hopper
allows the E-series to work with trucks of widths commonly used internationally.
The dual operator stations of the machine have been improved, allowing them to
slide sideways past the outer edge of the main frame to boost visibility, while
an optional side-shift operator platform is
available. The mix storage functionality of the SB-2500E Shuttle Buggy MTV has
been improved with the addition of devices that show the paving crew how much
mix remains in the hopper.
