Wirtgen has launched its new cold recycler model, the 3800 CR. The company has said that its cold
recyclers are designed for the efficient and environmentally friendly
rehabilitation of roads and that they help to reduce emissions, save on new
materials and reduce costs. The 3800 CR offers the ability to carry out cold
in-place recycling of a full-lane of pavement in one pass, stabilizing with
either foamed asphalt “green mix”, or any other stabilizing medium such as
asphalt emulsion or lime or cement slurry.
With a
conveyor mounted, it also will serve as a full-lane cold milling machine. The
3800 CR uses the same platform as the 2200 CR, but is supplied with a full-lane
drum of width 12feet 6inches (3.8m). A new down-cutting feature allows the 3800CR’s
milling drum to rotate in the direction of travel, which is designed to give
precise control of the size of the milled asphalt material. A straightforward
exchange of the drum gearbox converts the 3800 CR to work in up-cutting mode
whenever required.
Wirtgen also brought the WR 2400 mid-sized stabilizer and cold recycler to the show.
